Overview

Simeon Stafford is widely regarded as one of the country's leading living artists. In his distinctive and delightfully naïve style, he is known for capturing the lively detail of people and places in his work, and for including a familiar cast of characters including his famous Aunt Dot doing a handstand, Trixie the family Jack Russell, and Ruby, the little girl with pigtails.

Simeon was born in Manchester in 1956, and as a child was introduced to noted painter L.S. Lowry, who became a family friend and encouraged him to follow a career in fine art. Simeon went on to study at Hyde College and began his career exhibiting works that reflected the gritty northern landscape in the Primitive style. He relocated to Cornwall in 1996 and has since established himself as one of the UKs most recognised painters. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, and his work is held in numerous public and private collections, including that of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
