John Brenton is known for his paintings of Cornwall’s most inspirational views, from sweeping views of its estuaries and coastal headlands, to intimate portrayals of woodland streams and meandering dune paths.
This new collection explores the landscapes around Rock, Porthilly, Polzeath and Daymer Bay, in a palette that radiates the blue and gold tones of North Cornwall at the height of summer, when the beach grass is high and sailboats grace the waters of the Camel. His richly textured oil on canvas works capture the coming together of Cornwall’s huge skies and open coastline, accentuating the shimmer of sunlight on tidal sands, the yellows of beach gorse, and the touch of a warm ocean breeze on the water.
