James Bartholomew: Featured Artist

7 December 2024 - 5 January 2025

James Bartholomew is a British seascape and landscape painter, known for his relaxed and energetic painting style. His work explores the interplay between subject and light, and the ways in which the seasons and changing weather can alter the essential atmosphere of a place.

This collection responds to the dynamic Cornish coast, which has inspired James’ work for more than 25 years. From surging winter oceans to the glittering stillness of the coastline in spring, his work takes in stunning locations from Kynance Cove on the Lizard Peninsula to Newquay’s idyllic Polly Joke, and the beaches and coves around Padstow and Port Isaac.

James has been a full member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists since 2002 and his work has received numerous awards. He exhibits regularly at the Federation of British Artists and his paintings are held in private and corporate collections around the world.
