Andrew Barrowman returns to the gallery with a new collection of charcoal, graphite, and pastel works on paper. The collection is drawn from the landscape around Polzeath and the Camel Estuary, and demonstrates the artist's skill as an accomplished draughtsman and interpreter of the landscape. A number of his oil paintings will also be on show.
Working with willow charcoal and a variety of erasers, Andrew will draw scenes of the beautiful coast around Polzeath, explaining his various processes and techniques, and giving insight into how he creates his wonderfully atmospheric drawings.
He will also be happy to answer any questions about working with charcoal, and will demonstrate how to make liquid charcoal, which he uses for plein air sketching, and how to use it.
Andrew is an accomplished plein air artist and took part in Sky Arts Landscape Painter of the Year 2024. He sketches and paints outdoors in Cornwall's most beautiful and dramatic locations using a variety of mediums.
