Overview
Heidi Archer

Heidi Archer works in oil, acrylic, carborundum and charcoal on canvas board and wood panel, creating artworks that respond to the landscape around her home in South Devon. Drawing on the details and visual motifs of the area's coast and moorland, she enhances her semi abstracted images by reworking, scoring and sanding back their surfaces to increase their depth of colour, often leaving parts of the surface material bare to reveal its natural texture. 

Heidi lives and works in Teignmouth, in sight of both the sea and Dartmoor. The influence of both beautiful but very different landscapes can be seen in her work, from the seafront, harbour and fishing quay on the coast to the rolling landscape and spectacular skies of the open moor. Boats, wild birds, headlands, the sweep of the River Teign, tors, meadows, and the mark of human influences on nature are translated in her work into natural patterns and structured compositions. Heidi’s work was recently selected for the Society of Women Artists Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.
