Peter Ursem first received an Arts Council 'Year of the Artist' Award for 'Reflections, a Book of Woodcuts of the River Stour', and he subsequently went on to explore other relief printing techniques, particularly lino cuts and woodcuts. In 2006 he acquired a Victorian Cope & Hopkinson Albion Press, which enabled him to further develop his lino print 'reduction techniques', alongside the painterly method of printmaking, drawing and painting that is prominent in his work.
Peter was born in the Netherlands and graduated with a degree in Literature from the University of Utrecht, and in Drawing, Painting and Printmaking from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. In 1998 he moved to England where landscape gradually became the main subject matter in his work, which includes both art and writing. He now lives and works in Cornwall's beautiful Tamar Valley.
