Master potter Hugh West makes individual studio pieces and commissioned tableware. His works are inspired by the beautiful colours of the Cornish coastline, from the blue of seawater pools on white sand, to the black of coastal granite to the shifting pinks and creams of fine shell sand. Each piece is hand thrown on the wheel in fine quality English porcelain.
Hugh was born in York. He studied at Hereford School of Art & Design, later studying ceramics at Redruth School of Art, before setting up his own pottery studios in Cornwall, and La Borne in France. His work has been exhibited in Europe, Japan, the USA, Saudi Arabia and South Korea. Hugh is a member of the Cornwall Crafts Association and is an Honorary Life Member of Leach Pottery.
