Peter Turnbull's softly hued paintings cover subjects from intimate interiors to sweeping, elemental landscapes. His works explore the liminal places where land meets sea, where day and night merge, and memory and experience influence each other. His understanding of the history and techniques of British landscape painting give his work a quiet and compelling presence.

Peter Turnbull studied at Nottingham College of Art and The Royal College of Art in both London and Paris. He was Head of Fine Art at the University of Chester and became Visiting Professor of Fine Art on retirement. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the USA, Europe and the UK.
