For more than 20 years Philip Ward has lived and painted in West Cornwall, and has an insatiable curiosity for the people, animals and landscape that surround him. He works with a brush and palette knife, building up layers of paint and depth of surface through energetic mark making, with a focus on capturing movement in order to create dynamic, emphatic images.
Philip was born in Putney in 1962. He sketched and painted from an early age and went on to study at the prestigious St Martins School of Art in London. He exhibits regularly in both London and Cornwall, and his paintings are held in private collections in the UK, Ireland, Germany and the USA.
