Margo Kirkwood's works are inspired by the landscape surrounding her North Cornwall home. Her ideas begin with plein air sketching and painting 'in the moment', before she returns to the studio where each final painting is swiftly executed and stands in its own right.She works in oils, acrylics and watercolours, often using torn paper and other textured materials to disrupt the surface of her works. 

Margo was taught by art tutor Henry Israel in the '70s, whom she credits with teaching her to truly 'see'. Her recent works use collage as a starting point for her painting, allowing her to play with ideas, materials, and subtle approaches to abstraction, and letting remembered images to filter through in to her practice. She is particularly drawn to swaying grasses, and the beauty of nature's floral tapestry.
