In the second of our series of online Virtual Showcases at Whitewater Contemporary, we present new work by landscape painter Ian Hargreaves. Ian began his painting career as a young man, travelling across Europe and recording his travels in watercolour. In particular, he developed a strong association with Mediterranean subjects, a passion which influenced his career from that moment on. Accordingly, this new collection includes paintings of Venice in Italy and Lisbon in Portugal, as well as works inspired by Port Isaac and Polzeath.
Ian’s work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and the Royal Society of Marine Artists. His work has been accepted twice for the prestigious Lynn-Painter-Stainers Prize at the Mall Galleries, and in 2016 he won the Artist of The Year award in London. His work hangs in many private and public collections worldwide.
